This cake was made for the Madison Senior center to celebrate thanksgiving. The out side is whip cream ( heavy cream whiped just right and a 1/4 cup powder sugar) and the cake is yellow, 3 layers and the filling is italian custard. which is: 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1/2 cup cornstarch 1 quart milk which i use half heavy cream half milk 1 tablespoon melted butter 1 teaspoon vanilla (or rum). In saucepan blend sugar, eggs, and cornstarch, slowly adding the milk while stirring constantly over medium heat. Stir until just below boiling. remove from heat, add 1 tablespoon of melted butter and the vanilla.. blend well . pour into dessert dishes and chill. OR this custard is excellent as the center for a layer cake. adding chocolate chips is yummy also. or 6 ounces of melted unsweetened chocolate to make it chocolate custard.
